Pompey accept Al Fahim's resignation

Posted by live cricket Monday, February 22, 2010

Portsmouth have accepted Sulaiman Al Fahim's resignation from his position as the non-executive chairman at Fratton Park.

However, Pompey cannot understand why Al Fahim announced his intention to quit on a public website before informing the club of his plans.

Al Fahim announced that he was to stand down from the board and give his ten per cent shareholding to the Portsmouth's Supporters' Trust on Monday.

Pompey's director of communications, Gary Double, said: "We have received his resignation, which has been accepted by the board."

Al Fahim is one of four people that have owned the Premier League club this season, having taken over from Sacha Gaydamak last summer. He then sold the club to Ali Al Faraj with Balram Chainrai now in charge.

Al Fahim was made non-executive chairman of the Fratton Park outfit when his own ill-fated 40-day reign in the ownership hot-seat was ended by Ali Al Faraj's takeover last October.
